Bringing Ideas and Perspectives Together: Why Conferences Matter?

By Alison Hope (Business Development Manager) and

Francesca Brazzorotto Customer Engagement Manager, Karger Publishers

EAHIL is one of those events that reminds us why conferences matter. As a smaller medical sciences publisher, we have to be mindful about where we go – we can’t attend every event, so we focus on the ones where we can truly connect, exchange ideas, and make a difference. EAHIL is always a clear “yes” for us because it brings together medical and library professionals from all over Europe – it’s not every day you get to exchange ideas with colleagues from Amsterdam, Athens, Stockholm, and Seville all in the same room. Many events tend to be more country-focused, but EAHIL’s international spirit is what makes it so special.

Most of the librarians we meet at EAHIL already have access to Karger content, which means we’re not there to sell – we’re there to listen. Conversations often turn into collaborative brainstorming sessions: how can we better support your training initiatives? What topics should our next free webinars cover?

Our tip for future delegates is simple – come talk to us! Exhibitors aren’t just there to showcase products, but to learn from you, help you with your challenges, and celebrate your successes.

This year, in Łódź, we were inspired not just by the sessions but by the strong sense of community. The venue was unforgettable (yes, we all took too many photos of that futuristic hotel lobby!), but what stuck with us were the discussions on how libraries are adapting to AI, Open Science, and accessibility – topics that resonate deeply with us at Karger.

We’re already looking forward to EAHIL 2026 in Antalya. If you’re there, stop by and share your thoughts with us. We promise to bring good conversation – and plenty of chocolate!
