About Güssün
Güssün Güneş worked at Koç University School of Nursing as a Library Supervisor and Lecturer between 1996 and 2012. During this period, she organized and hosted the first symposium of medical librarians in Türkiye. She also coordinated the EAHIL 2011 Conference at Koç University and the EAHIL 2021 Workshop at Marmara University.
Since 2012, she has been serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Information and Records Management at Marmara University, where she also heads the Division of Institutional Archives. She served as the Director of the Department of Libraries and Documentation at Marmara University until 2022.
Her academic research focuses on academic and medical librarianship, health literacy, bibliotherapy, digital libraries, information and technical services in librarianship, electronic resource management, metadata systems and classification, cataloging, the Semantic Web, cultural history, health informatics, preservation and conservation in libraries, durable paper, occupational health, dust and pollution in libraries, next-generation library buildings, museum management, museum informatics, and artificial intelligence.
She has authored and published numerous academic articles, books, conference papers, and posters.
Güssün Güneş is a member of the Turkish Librarians’ Association, the University and Research Librarians’ Association and its Medical Work Group, the European Association for Health Information and Libraries (EAHIL), and the Medical Library Association (MLA).
