Welcome to Trondheim, Norway!

In 2023, EAHIL is meeting up in Norway, and we are honored to be hosting the workshop in Trondheim! After more than two years of a pandemic, lockdowns and online conferences, we believe that a workshop with active participation, discussions and networking will go down a treat.
Call for abstracts opens on 15 september: read more on EAHIL2023.org
Workshop
The EAHIL event is in the form of a workshop every other year, and it is up to the host institution to decide how the format is to be interpreted. The EAHIL 2023 Workshop will probably be a mix of traditional conference elements and the workshop format, and we hope that this will appeal to a broad audience: we hope to offer workshops, plenary talks, parallel sessions and continuing education courses. There will also be good food, music, sightseeing in the historic city of Trondheim, and there will be plenty of opportunities to get to know new people.
Radical positive change agents
The title for our workshop is “Radical positive change agents”, a title that stems from a quote by R. David Lankes: “To be a librarian is not to be neutral, or passive, or waiting for a question. It is to be a radical positive change agent within our community.” We want to use Lankes’ quote to set the tone for a workshop that not only should be about learning new skills and to encourage networking (even though that is also essential): we want to inspire the delegates to reflect on our roles and to help develop a new philosophy for the profession.
Lankes’ quote is reflected in our subthemes as well, touching on new roles, power structures, diversity, visibility, open learning and impact in our institutions. And maybe Lankes’ philosophy is not the only way Lankes will add to the workshop experience..?
The international program committee wishes you all a warm welcome to Trondheim in June 2023. We can’t wait!
